įather, we thank you for bestowing Mary on us as our devoted mother. O Mary, Mother of Jesus, we ask that you beseech your loving son, Jesus, that the suffering people of Somalia and elsewhere in our world may know the consoling and healing love the Almighty and living God offers to all his people. Just as Mary took her dying son, Jesus, in her arms, we beseech her that she look with compassion on our dearest when they are called home by the Father and bring them in joy to share their promised reward of eternal life.
On this great feast of the Mother of God, we remember all mothers and ask the Lord to bless them in their wonderful vocation.Īs we celebrate this feast of Mary, we pray that our family homes will be places where we experience healing, peace and forgiveness.
We ask her today to protect all in our parish and to beseech her beloved son, Jesus, to bestow on us the grace to love him more dearly, and follow him more nearly in our daily lives.Īs we celebrate the life of Mary who answered God’s call and committed her life to His service, we ask that we, too, be given the grace to also accept the will of God in our lives Today, the Feast of the Assumption, we honour the Virgin Mary and celebrate her Assumption into Heaven, body and soul. J ust as god trusted M ary to bring his only son into the world, we trust in her to bring our prayers to that same loving F ather and to intercede on our behalf. We pray for the sick and particularly for those with life-threatening illnesses, that they receive the best of care, medication and treatment to ease their pain and bring them to a full recovery. We pray for the people of Somalia who do not have food, who watch their children die, that our loving God have mercy on them, grant them the rainfall they so badly need and inspire the world to feed and support these, our starving brothers and sisters. We pray to the Lord that we too be given the grace to accept the will of God in our lives. Tomorrow, August 15 th, we celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin into Heaven, a reward for her acceptance of the will of the Father in becoming the mother of the Saviour with its pain, suffering and loss. We pray Lord for the strength and perseverance to proclaim and live your message clearly, proudly and with charity to those who would deny you. We pray for Christ’s church that it will persevere against opposition and hostility and that his holy gospel will be loudly proclaimed by today’s disciples. In today’s gospel Jesus makes it clear that his message is not an easy one and would bring division in the world, a conflict of good against evil, love against hate.
